It is performed painlessly under local anaesthesia and involves applying appropriate thin layers of composite material on the tooth / teeth surfaces after prior cleaning. Thanks to the large variety of composite materials, we can obtain a natural, aesthetic looks of a smile.
It is a great method, when it is necessary do monor corrections when it comes to colour and shape of the teeth. We use cosmetic bonding, for example, in discoloured teeth, too short, rotating teeth, teeth after endodontic treatment, when closing smile gaps between teeth, broken teeth or after other injuries, and in the case of genetic disorders of dental tissues.
Cosmetic bonding may involve one or several teeth, depending on the needs and expectations of the patient. The types of composites available on the market, with different colours, colour saturation, depth and translucency, allow to obtain details characteristic of the neighbouring teeth and necessary while maintaining the naturalness of the tooth. Currently, with the appropriate skills of the dentist, it is not difficult to obtain invisible tooth fillings, the appearance of which consists of various colours, but also translucencies, spots, etc. details that can also be obtained in the case of bonding.
In cases when bigger corrections are needed, it is recommended to make porcelain veneers instead. Porcelain veneers have a longer durability, are more resistant do discolouration and is a better solution than cosmetic bonding.
